Job Description

We’re building Applyo — a next-gen college discovery & application platform for MBA students: one form to apply everywhere. We believe in clean, student-first experiences and smart workflows rather than chaos.
As we gear up, we need a UI/UX designer who understands flows, feels for students, and designs both the journey and the interface. You’ll join a small team, have real impact from Day 1, and see your ideas used by students.

What you’ll do:

  • Work with the senior UI designer and the UI-developer to define user journeys for students.
  • Refine existing user-flows, site-maps, wireframes and interactive prototypes (in Figma or equivalent) that reflect student mindset and product goals.
  • Define and maintain a design-system / component library: reuse styles, ensure consistency in UI.
  • Collaborate with the UI-developer: ensure hand-off is smooth, designs are implementable, responsive across device sizes.
  • Run usability checks / gather feedback (internally or via sample students) and iterate designs accordingly.
  • Think beyond screens: design micro-interactions, feedback loops, onboarding flows, error states — make the product feel smart and friendly.
  • Keep student persona front of mind: conduct basic research (surveys, interviews) or at least simulate it; think about pain-points of college applicants.
  • Stay updated on design trends, tools, best practices; bring ideas for how we can differentiate.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Final-year college student (graduating 2026) or fresher — ideally with a design/interaction/product mindset and portfolio to match.
  • Strong working knowledge of Figma (or similar) — you can build wireframes, prototypes, and final screens.
  • Good sense of user-journeys, flows, and student-centric design. You know it’s more than “button design”.
  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of UI: grid/spacing, typography, color, layout, responsive design.
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS (not as a dev, but enough to speak the language and design feasible UI).
  • Comfortable working remotely, with flexible hours, and taking ownership of your deliverables.
  • Curious, growth-oriented, willing to learn. Startup attitude.
  • Nice to have: experience or project in student-oriented or education domain; willingness to do basic research/user testing; knowledge of design systems.

What you’ll get:

  • Fully remote, work from anywhere (India) with flexible hours.
  • Real product impact: your designs will be used by real students, live in the product.
  • Opportunity to learn UI-dev collaboration, front-end realities, product thinking.
  • Ideally growth into product designer role as we scale.
